Butterfly Marketing Limited is the outcome of endeavor of some highly motivated and optimistic personalities. Incorporated in July 1987, Butterfly started its journey to success with a team of six entrepreneurs and three staff members.

At the very beginning of the venture, we imported and marketed sewing machine from China. At that time, we had only eight showrooms located in different places of the country. Now near about seventy showrooms situated countrywide indicates the successful expansion and prosperity of our business over the last decade.

This growth in business is also reflected in the broadening of product width and breadth. Now we offer different models of consumer durable which includes Sewing Machine, Ceiling and other Fans, Bicycle, Color and B/W Television, CD Set, Refrigerators, Deep-freezers, Washing Machine, Micro-wave Oven, Air Conditioner, Rice Cooker etc.

We have positive contribution to the national economy by generating employment opportunity for the unemployed persons. Right now, we have over 650 dedicated employees working for us all over the country. We also set up a B/W TV assembly plant equipped with modern machinery and latest technology.

Recently, We have formed alliance with world renowned LG Electronics Inc. of Republic of Korea where we will be acting as the sole distributor of their products in Bangladesh. We also have certain business ties with Hyundai Corporation of Korea and other leading companies of China and India.

Butterfly sells its product in two existing systems. One is basic cash purchase system and the other is Installment or Hire Purchase system. The second method enables the customers to pay for the product in an installment basis. After giving a certain amount as the down or initial payment, the customers are allowed to pay rest of the money part by part up to a period of fourteen months. We also provide a unique "Two month Closing" facility where no extra charge is kept over the normal cash price if all the dues are paid within the two months of purchasing date. By providing this Hire purchase facility for the customers, Butterfly makes it possible for the middle income group to buy its variety of consumer goods which was otherwise out of their reach. With the assistance of dedicated field force, the Company is also maintaining its high ratio of receivable collection period quite efficiently.

The Board of Directors is the apex authority to formulate policy guidelines and strategies to achieve company objectives. The overall management of the Company is looked by the Managing Director, who is assisted by a group of professional managers and by other directors. The short-term goals of the company are vested upon the professional managers while the responsibility to give proper logistic support to the managers is carried out by the directors. This kind of segmentation is made to ensure smooth production and sales.

About fifty three salaried personnel are employed to accomplish various tasks of the management office alone. The plant Manager is primarily responsible for the operation of the TV assembling plant which has eighty five employees. He reports directly to the Managing Director and is assisted by Production Engineer. In sales, the Branch managers, who works on commission basis, are primarily responsible for sale in the showrooms, the final outlet to supply goods to the consumers. There are sixty nine branch managers working in the same number of showrooms in different parts of the country. The Branch Managers are accountable to their respective Area Managers who reports to sales manager. Sales manager is accountable to Managing Director with the overall sales position along with performance reports of the managers at different levels.

Besides the organizational hierarchy, an informal overlapping also exists in the company. The members of the Board of Directors sometimes supervise directly any corner of the concern irrespective of their defined realm of duties. This informal behavior, as the Board of Directors feel, kept their progress on an even keel. Because such a practice helps in creating relation between the consumers and the directors. Eventually, the directors become aware of the consumers attitude and their problems, which helps them making quick and correct decisions.

Though our progress over the year has been excellent, we do not allow this to make ourselves self-complacent. Rather we strive for taking inspiration from this success to endeavor newer horizons and business prospects. We are confident enough that with the help of the Almighty we will continue to perform in the future as successfully as ever.
